Student Accomplishments: Drawing & Painting
STUDENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Drawing & Painting
October is proving to be quite the dimensional month at Coastal Living Gallery. The gallery is showcasing the works of ceramic sculptor Tiffany Adams and landscape painter Susan Strauss in the current exhibition, 2d 3d, showing now through Friday, November 1st. Both women are guests artists at Coastal Living Gallery.
Susan Strauss will be exhibiting her coastal landscape paintings, creations whose timeless appeal is the perfect counterpart to the age statement given from Adams' sculptures. The point of view Strauss captures in her paintings is one of absolute intimacy. With minimal distance, it thrusts the viewer immediately into the natural scene being depicted, and may even begin to conjure up thoughts or memories, as if you've seen this place before. In 2013 Strauss was the recipient of a Public Arts of RI grant and awarded a solo show at Home and Hospice Care of RI in Providence. She won 'Best in Show' in the South Coast Artists Creative Waters Competition and began a one year Post Baccalaureate Certificate Program at UMass Dartmouth.
Fine Arts graduate student Charity Henderson was selected to have her drawing "Confrontation" exhibited in the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition Wide Open 4, an annual national juried exhibition, juried by Carrie Springer, Senior Curatorial Assistant at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
Fine Arts graduate student Kat Knutsen won best of show in the Student Exhibition at The Gallery in the Ghosh Center. She won for her oil on canvas, "One of Many Queens."
