 ARTISANRY SUMMER WORKSHOPS 2014:

CRAFTED EXPRESSION FOR THE BODY - JUNE 16-20, 2014

TEXTILE AND FIBER ARTS

Monday – Friday, 9am–12pm

Instructor: Jodi Stevens

This course utilizes hand-dyed fabrics in creating wearables. Participants will create individually dyed and/or sewn items such as scarves, clothing, bags, or fabric jewelry. Various Shibori dyeing techniques will be used to create desired patters, lines, and colors. Students will learn to use both reactive and acid dyes for cottons and silks.

All levels of experience welcome.

JEWELRY AND METAL ARTS

Monday – Friday, 1pm–4pm

Instructor: Kaitlyn Evans 

This course utilizes metal and found objects to create jewelry. Transform objects like shells, beads, antiques, and unusual objects into wearable art. Students will learn sawing, filing, riveting, and other creative cold connections. Simple forming will also be demonstrated.

All levels of experience welcome.

This course utilizes fine porcelain clay as a material for creating jewelry and wearables. Traditional and experimental hand-building and glazing techniques will be demonstrated to craft beautiful one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces.

PAPERMAKING AND BOOKBINDING ARTS

This course utilizes natural fibers as a material for creating handmade paper and books. This course will cover pulp processing, pulp dyeing, pulp casting, and paper sheet forming for use in stationary, book binding, and other everyday objects.
