Visual Resource Center REGIONAL MUSEUM & SITES The International Council of Museums defines museum as: "Museums are institutions that collect, safeguard and make accessible artifacts and specimens, which they hold in trust for society".

Many museums employ an education department dedicated to schools, universities and public use and access to their collections. Often these programs include behind the scene tours as well as on-site visits. Below is a compilation of links to museum education departments within the New England region.
