Collections Digital Initiative
In conjunction with the digital classroom initiative, the VRC has embarked on a digital initiative to transform its slide library to a digital repository. Our purpose is to meet the growing demands for digital images and interactive content. To accomplish this goal, VRC has implemented a five-year digital initiative of which Phase One and Phase Two (creation of structural, descriptive and administrative metadata guidelines and best practices) have been completed. In the summer of 2006, VRC embarked on Phase Three, the construction of an online centralized image and multimedia database system for campus-wide consumption. Phase Four is the development of a web interface allowing faculty and student remote access to the digital database system.
