Intra-Campus Calls

Listen for dial tone. Dial four-digit numbers only. Example: 8000.

Local Calls

New Bedford area (Access Code "7"): Listen for dial tone. Dial "7." Wait for second dial tone. Dial desired ten digits. Example: 7 + 508-999-8000.

Local calls in the immediate area which require dialing ten digits are Mattapoisett, Rochester, and Westport. Dial "7." Wait for second dial tone, then dial ten digits.

Fall River area

Dial "7," wait for second dial tone. Dial desired ten digits. Example: 7 + 508-678-7521.

Long Distance/Out-of-State

(Access Code "7" for class 1 only): 7 + 1 + Area Code + 7 digits.

Toll calls should be kept at an absolute minimum. Do not call long distance unless the call is absolutely necessary for the conduct of university business. Do not telephone if the message can be transmitted satisfactorily and at less expense by email, the United States Postal Service, or telegram.
