The MLK Multicultural Celebration at UMass Dartmouth will provide a chance for celebration and participation of various cultures to address the fundamental need in all of us to find common ground with one another to build a community of cultural understanding. The celebration is to support and enhance Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's philosophy of advancing, advocating for social justice and equity by providing a venue where diverse perspectives, cultures and values are accepted, appreciated and celebrated.
The MLK Multicultural Celebration at UMass Dartmouth is an event that will feature performing arts and talents. This event will seek to provide attendees with an uplifting environment for learning about others, while encouraging deeper exploration of differences. In striving to foster an atmosphere that promotes inclusion and collaboration amongst all sectors of the university and greater community, the MLK Multicultural Celebration supports the institution’s commitment to honor diversity in all its aspects. The purpose of the celebration is to empower the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth community to see our role in continuing the legacy of Dr. King, by inspiring all of us to use our strengths, passions, and talents to better the lives of others, continuing our impact both locally and globally.

Performing Acts - from Indian Dancers to traditional Portuguese singers, steel drummers to featured Asian-inspired fashion - will show off the diversity of our community and we'll have a lot of fun, too!
