Biography:
Dr. Thomas P. Jackivicz is Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and is an active consulting engineer. He received a B.S. degree and an M.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Miami, Florida, and a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering (Environmental Empahsis) from the University of Massachusetts. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Massachusetts since 1973. During the past thirty-one years, Dr. Jackivicz has developed and taught almost all of the environmental engineering courses at UMass Dartmouth. This includes water treatment, wastewater treatment, design of pollution control facilities, analysis of water quality, and the evaluation of treatment techniques for different wastes. He is also active in teaching the theory and practical engineering aspects of surveying. During the past five years he has been the departmental Co-op coordinator advising and placing an average of 20 co-op students per year.
In addition to his teaching, Dr. Jackivicz has also served as a consultant to a number of firms and private individuals in the region on wastewater treatment, wastewater disposal and land development.
