Biography:


Dr. Madhusudan H. Jhaveri is Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and is a consulting engineer.

He is a graduate of Sardar Vallabh Vidyapeeta in India where he received his B.E. (Civil Engineering) with 1st Class Honors. He also received a gold medal from the Institution of Engineers, Gujarat State in his senior year. He went on to receive a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from North Dakota State University and an Engr. Sc.D. in Structural Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is a registered Professional Engineer in New Jersey and Massachusetts.

Dr. Jhaveri's professional experience includes working on the design of International Airport in Newark, New Jersey, design of World trade Center in New York, elevated railroad structures, high rise buildings, reinforced cement concrete shell structures, curved girders, rail supporting elevated structures, elevated tank and mill supporting structures, underground tanks, pile foundations, etc. Locally, he is a consultant for structural renovation of old buildings and structures and is often hired as an expert witness.

Dr. Jhaveri has served as a member of the faculty at the University of Bombay (India), New Jersey Institute of Technology, and City University of New York before joining the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 1974.

He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
