Topic: Some Viewpoints on Supportability System Engineering
Abstract:
Supportability is the measure of the ability of a system to sustain, retain, or restore to a specified condition using planned support concepts and logistics resources for accomplishing a specified mission.
Due to the wide range and complexity of supportability, it is very difficult to obtain supportable systems. In order to obtain a supportable system at an affordable cost and in a timely manner, a system approach, referred to as supportability system engineering (SSE) must be developed and implemented.
In this seminar, I will introduce the discipline of SSE, which includes the concept of supportability and SSE, the determination of supportability requirements, the design of supportability, the design and establishment of the corresponding support system, the test and evaluation of supportability objectives and requirements, the operation and improvement of the corresponding support system, the management and utilization of support information, and the management of SSE. Some new viewpoints on the implementation of SSE will also be presented.
