Title: Absence of preclassical solutions in Bianchi I loop quantum cosmology
Summary: Solutions to homogeneous and isotropic models of our Universe in the context of Loop Quantum Gravity have been known for a number of years. They have some intriguing features, such as the possible exploration of pre-big bang Physics. Our work attempts to find similar ("preclassical") solutions to an anisotropic model ("Bianchi I") and we discover that there are none. This indicates possible technical issues with the model, or something very appealing i.e. Loop Quantum Gravity suppresses anisotropy, thereby providing an explanation for why our Universe is so isotropic.Electrical and Computer Engineering

Student Activities
UMass Dartmouth is one of only 20 universities worldwide that have been invited to participate in the Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon contest held at the National Mall in 2005. UMass Dartmouth is the only representative from the state of Massachusetts. Gerald Lemay's interests and efforts played a role in making this a reality.
