Need a Co-op Student?
UMass Dartmouth offers Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering students. We will be happy to assist your organization with the process of posting a co-op or an internship position and hiring a co-op student or a student intern via our online recruiting module, PlacePro.
What is PlacePro?
PlacePro allow employers to enter and maintain company information and job openings, manage contact information, and view qualified student's resumes online. This module will allow employers to play an integral role in the recruiting and placement process by providing them with the tools necessary to evaluate and acquire qualified co-op candidates.
STEP 1:
Call the Cooperative Education and Internship Program Office at 508.999.8387 to discuss the position that you are seeking to fill. Once the position has been approved, we have three ways to post your position on our online recruiting module - PlacePro - for candidates to review:
- Post the position online via PlacePro:
- Website: www.placepro.com
- PlacePro Access Code: UMDHIRES
- Your PlacePro login = contact our office for your personal login
- Your Password = contact our office for your initial password
- Email the Cooperative Education and Internship Program Office, coop@umassd.edu with the following information:
- Employer Name and Address, City, State, Zip
- Contact Name, Title, Phone, Fax
- Student's Co-op Title
- Hourly Wage
- Hours per week - students are required to work 40 hours per week in a Co-op work session and approximately 20 hours per week in an Internship work session
- Desired Majors -CEN, ELE, CIS, CPE, MNE
- Skills/Qualifications
- Semester you want to hire student: Spring, Summer, Fall
- Description of job
- Fill the form online or Print the Co-op Interest Form (PDF) and fax it to us at 508.999.9137. If you have difficulty opening the PDF file, contact us and we can fax you a Co-op Interest Form to complete and fax back to us.
STEP 2:
If you post the position via the PlacePro website, then you can review resumes of interested candidates online. Otherwise, based on your job description, we will send (via Email, fax, or U.S. Mail) resumes to you of prescreened and interested candidates. After reviewing the resumes, decide which candidates you would like to interview and notify the CEIP office.
STEP 3:
Interview candidates and hire the student you feel is best suited for the job.
STEP 4:
Be sure to let our office know that you hired a UMass Dartmouth Cooperative Education/Internship student. The only fee involved is the hourly wage you pay the student.
