UMD Electrical Engineering Graduate Program Nationally Ranked by US News and World Report

us news ranking In its recent rankings of graduate schools, US News and World Report ranked the electrical engineering graduate program #122 in electrical engineering.  It is tied with the electrical engineering program at our sister school, UMass Lowell.  This is the first time a major graduate program at UMD has been ranked nationally by US News and World Report.

The department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) offers three graduate degree programs and several graduate certificate programs.  The PhD in Electrical Engineering, which was the first doctoral program instituted at UMD, has graduated nearly 30 doctoral degree recipients since its inception in 1995.  In 2013, the program graduated four new PhDs.  The PhD in Electrical Engineering has an option in Computer Engineering for those specializing in Computer Engineering related research.

The ECE department is the research flagship department in the College of Engineering.  It has two NSF CAREER award winners, one ONR Young Investigator award winner and one DARPA Young Faculty award winner.  Research in the department has been funded by funding agencies such as NSF, NIH, ONR, AFOSR, and NASA.  The department's research specialty areas are acoustics, signal processing, RF/photonics, wireless communications and networking, and reliability engineering.  The ECE department has around 80 graduate students in the different graduate programs.  For further information on ECE graduate programs go to:
