Linux Remote Access

Access from off-campus or from wireless (UMASSD) must be made through a VPN connection.
Please visit http://www.umassd.edu/cits/vpn/ for VPN setup.

VPN server to connect to is 134.88.252.20

If you have trouble getting the VPN setup to work, contact IT Services for Students at itstudentcenter@umassd.edu (508-999-8884).

To connect:

After authenticating through CITS VPN server (if needed), you may use remote desktop client to connect to the linux servers.

Remote desktop servers are  134.88.53.56 and 134.88.53.59*

*134.88.53.59 requires special permission from Dr. Laoulache

Mapped drives:

/home/username        (linux share)
/U/username           (U: University drive 1GB)
/Z/username           (Z: Eng share 4GB)
/class                (M: Class drive)


Installed Software:

  • Comsol (research license)
  • Matlab
  • OpenFOAM


To end your session:

From the pull down menu at top right corner, username  -> Log Out


Special notes:

default shell is bash, save custom settings to ~/.bashrc

Disconnected sessions are automatically terminated after 48 hours.
