Virtual Computing Lab

Virtual Windows 7 desktops are available through the Virtual Computing Lab (VCL) from any computer.

visit http://www.umassd.edu/cits/vcl

after signing in,
click New Session
select UMassD Virtual Computer COE from the pull down menu.

Mapped drives:
U: University drive 1GB
Z: Eng share 4GB
M: Class drive

You will also have access to your local computer drives to transfer files.

Installed software:

  • Comsol (must be enrolled in MNE-252, MNE-331, MNE-332 or MNE-421)
  • Mathcad
  • Matlab
  • MS Office
  • Multisim
  • Solidworks
  • Visual Studio

 

Remote Desktop Server 

Usage is reserved for graduate and research use.  Permission must first come from the MNE department.


Access from off-campus or from wireless (UMASSD) must be made through a VPN connection.

To connect:
After authenticating through CITS VPN server (if needed), you may use remote desktop client to connect to the Windows 2012 R2 server.

Windows: Select "Remote Desktop Connection" from Accessories under the Start menu.
MacOSX:  Download Microsoft Remote Desktop client from app store

 

Remote desktop server is rds-mne.umdar.umassd.edu
sign on with UMDAR\username

Mapped drives:
U: University drive 1GB
Z: Eng share 4GB
M: Class drive

Installed software:

  • Ansys (research license)
  • Comsol (research license)
  • EES
  • Mathcad
  • Mathematica
  • Matlab
  • MS Office

Disconnected sessions are terminated after 48 hours.
