Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
The mechanical engineering department at UMass Dartmouth offers the master of science degree in mechanical engineering. Course offerings and faculty interests span the entire range of the mechanical engineering field.
The degree program requires 30 or 33 credits (depending on whether a project or a thesis or a course work option is undertaken) which is ten or eleven courses. It is expected that full-time students will complete the requirements in 1 1/2 or two years. Courses are offered on a flexible schedule that tries to accommodate the needs of working students. Minimum requirements for admission are a 3.0 GPA (out of 4.0); although other evidence of professional competence can be considered for students who do not meet this criteria. Students who are not graduates of UMass Dartmouth must take the GRE general exam.
The department also offers an accelerated five-year BSMS program that confers the BS and MS degrees in mechanical engineering. The BSMS program provides outstanding UMass Dartmouth undergraduate mechanical engineering students with an excellent opportunity to obtain an advanced degree.
