Mechanical Engineering College of Engineering

March 30, 1995

To whom it may concern,

Four years after the fact I can say that I'm very happy about choosing UMASS Dartmouth and the Mechanical Engineering department. The mechanical engineering faculty are all experts in their fields and have kept up with the latest changes in technology. I'm now very well prepared to enter the work force or continue my education.

One of the biggest advantages to UMD is the cost. The mechanical engineering department is fully accredited so you can get the same education at UMD at a fraction of the cost of some of the larger, more recognized schools. In design competitions with schools from all over New England, the mechanical engineers at UMD have proven that we are second to no one.

Another advantage that drew me to UMD was its' small size, about 5500 students. At larger schools you're just another face in the crowd that can barely see the blackboard, but not here. The mechanical engineering faculty knows names and faces and provided the personal attention that I wanted. Whether you need help solving a problem or some advice, someone is always willing to help you.

Like most things, you're going to get out what you put in. The mechanical engineering program at UMD provides you with everything you need to become an excellent engineer. If you take advantage of these things then you're on your way to a successful career. A school's name doesn't mean you're going to succeed, it's up to you.

Sincerely,

John Daley ('95)
