The world of textiles has changed and so has the textiles program at UMASSD. With a concentration in nano and bio medical sciences and their applications in SMART textiles, the program is an ideal segway to a fulfilling and rewarding career. The program is very fundamental and at the same time equips students with the skills required to succeed in the real world. The department offers a very healthy student-faculty ratio and through its numerous research grants, it provides the valuable hands on research experience. I would highly recommend the program.

I graduated with a Masters Degree in Textile Chemistry from the Department of Textile Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2003. UMassD is a great place to study undergraduate or masters degree in Materials and Textiles. The versatility of course works and research projects in the department provides excellent opportunities for the students to pursue a scientific career in a wide variety of fields after their graduation. This includes but not limited to biomedical, materials, mechanical, and several other engineering fields. The faculties in the department are very helpful and easily approachable. I had a wonderful opportunity to work with Professor Dr. Qinguo Fan for my masters' thesis. It is another great experience that I always cherish when I think about UMassD. I would strongly recommend this program for the students who want to have a challenging and rewarding career in materials and textiles.
