Education
Cesar obtained his B.Sc in Oceanography from the University of Sao Paulo (USP), Brazil in 2011. For his scientific work as an undergraduate student, he received the "2010 Best B.Sc Thesis Award" from the Oceanographic Institute of USP.
Currently, Cesar is a Master Student in Oceanography at USP and Visiting Research Student at the Department of Physics of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
Current Research
Cesar is interested in the physics of the ocean. In particular, he seeks a deep understanding of the dynamics of mesoscale phenomena through the adaptive combination of observations and theory. Currently, Cesar is investigating whether the surface quasi-geostrophic (SQG) models can account for the observed variability in the Brazil Current region. Cesar has participated in five meso to large-scale oceanographic cruises where he has worked on the acquisition and processing of quasi-synoptic Current, Temperature and Depth (CTD), Expendable Bathythermograph (XBT), Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), Lowered Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (L-ADCP), and Thermosalinograph (TSG) data.
