My name is Sarah Jane Briggs. I grew up in Taunton, Massachusetts where I attended Coyle Cassidy High School. From there I went to Massasoit Community College from 2000 to 2001. In 2001, I transferred to Mt. Ida College located in Newton, Massachusetts where I studied Sports Management. Last but not least, in 2002, I transferred to UMASS-Dartmouth.
In the fall of 2002, in search of a more well-rounded education, I approached Dr. Jen Riley about finding a suitable major. Since we were both new to the University, we looked into the multidisciplinary major and found it to be just what I was looking for. After some exploration, we were able to combine two fields that I found particularly interesting, Sociology and Women’s Studies.
I feel the combination of these two disciplines has more than adequately prepared me to pursue a law degree, which is my highest aspiration. Through this multidisciplinary degree I have been taught to think critically and analyze my surroundings which is sure to help me in law school.
