Tuition Remission

Faculty receive tuition waivers and in some cases also fee waivers when they or their immediate family take courses at UMass Dartmouth or other UMass campuses. Refer to the AFT Contract, Article XI.D.9, for specifics and to the Human Resources Office for assistance (Mitch Berube at X8083).

Tuition Policy (In-State vs. Out-of-State Tuition Rates)

Students who are "Massachusetts Residents" pay substantially reduced tuition charges. The University uses a comprehensive policy to determine who are and are not Massachusetts residents, approved by the UMass Board of Trustees and based on policies of the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and on state law.

The detailed policy text is published in admissions application materials and the General and Graduate Catalogues. Because this policy can be confusing, the Office of the Registrar makes available a Q and A pamphlet which is available on request and can be seen through the UMass Dartmouth web home pages. Contact the Registrar's Office for questions about tuition residency (X8614).

Remission is for tuition only, not fees.
