President's Award for Public Service
"The President’s Public Service Awards were established in 1998 as a means of recognizing the public service contributions of UMass faculty members. To date, a total of 46 faculty members from the five UMass campuses have been selected to receive the award. The current winners’ portraits will hang in the President’s Office Board Room throughout the year." (Read the entire press release here.)
To date, eight out of the forty-six recipients of the President's Public Service Awards have been from UMass Dartmouth. Those outstanding professors are:

- Dr. Richard Upchurch, Computer and Information Science
- Dr. Robert Waxler, English
