  • Registration - 8:30am to 10am

    Family & Friends will register for the event at the Campus Center Info Desk.
    All event attendees will receive an event bracelet, which will entitle participants to the following:

    • Breakfast on Saturday & Sunday
    • BBQ on Saturday
    • Admission to all Festival activities on the West Quad
    • Admission to all Exploration sessions (subject to space)
    • Admission to the UMD Football Game & Women's Soccer game
    • Special Offers/Discounts during the Saturday "Dine Out" event
    • Special Offers/Discounts during the Sunday "Explore the SouthCoast" event
  • Breakfast - 8:30am to 11am

    Join us for hot off the grill eggs, bacon, sausage, and potatoes, as well as freshly baked muffins, danish, and bagels to start your weekend off right! Commuter Cafe, Campus Center. Faculty and staff will join guests for breakfast.

  • Meet The Deans & Provost / Student Services Fair - 9am - 10:30am

    Families and Friends can meet college deans and faculty at breakfast. Get acquainted with Student Services departments such as Dining, Housing, Public Safety, Academic Advising, & the new Parents' Association at the information tables.

  • Residence Hall Tours - 9am - 12pm

    There will be tours leaving from a central location for Family and Friends interested in visiting residential communities.

  • Marketplace - 10am to 3pm

    The plaza area below the Skybridge connecting the Liberal Arts building and the Campus Center will feature Student and Faculty artwork, craft demonstrations and art items by UMass Dartmouth students that are available for purchase.

  • Welcome - 10:30am to 11am

    Family & Friends Weekend will officially kick off with a welcome by Chancellor MacCormack.

  • Festival - 11am to 3pm

    The Campus Quad will feature activities geared toward siblings and families such as games, a photo booth, a rock-climbing wall and inflatables.

  • On Stage - 11am to 2pm

    A stage area will be set up on the Campus Center Patio where continuous Student and Faculty performances will be offered.

  • Exploration - 11am to 2pm

    Sessions will be available across campus highlighting faculty achievement through lectures, presentations, gallery talks, etc. Multiple sessions will be offered by each of the five undergraduate colleges.

  • BBQ - 1pm to 4pm

    Head over to the athletic fields and help yourself to hamburgers, hot dogs, or veggie burgers with all the fixings as you watch the athletes on the fields below. Scoop up a hearty bowl of meat or veggie chili while you're at it, and finish off with some freshly baked cookies.

  • Athletic Events - 1pm to 6pm

    Come support our talented Corsairs as they host UMass Boston and MIT in two exciting home games. Women's soccer vs. UMass Boston begins at 1pm. Football vs. MIT begins at 3pm. Free admission with Family & Friends weekend bracelet.

  • Family Focus - 2pm to 4pm

    Families may attend sessions covering such areas of interest as student development and family finances.

  • A Taste of the SouthCoast - 6pm to 8pm

    Event guests will receive a Dartmouth/New Bedford/Fall-River-area dining guide, and will be encouraged to travel off-campus for dinner. The dining guide will include select participating restaurants that will offer discounts and/or special offers for those that show their event bracelet.

  • Evening Activities - 8pm to 10pm

    Event guests may decide to take in a free movie on campus, or take part in the “Wii Play Games” night in the Commuter CafĂ©, which offers Nintendo, XBox and PC gaming fun for all ages.

  • Send-off Breakfast: Wafflemania!!! - 8:30am to 11am

    Waffles with all of the trimmings will be served in the Commuter Café. Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Dr. Jean Kim, will conclude the on-campus portion of the Family & Friends Weekend, sending guests out to explore the area.

  • Explore The SouthCoast - 11am to 5pm

    Event guests will receive a guide to SouthCoast attractions, and will be encouraged to explore the area at their own pace. An event bracelet will be good for discounts or complimentary admission at local attractions and museums. Tours of the UMass Dartmouth Star Store will also be available. For example, a family may decide to check out nearby New Bedford, by first touring the Buttonwood Park Zoo (open 10am-5pm daily with Free Admission for those with FFW bracelets). The Buttonwood Park Zoo is nationally accredited, was established in 1894, and is the 12th oldest zoo in the United States. Next, they may enjoy an authentic Italian dinner at Riccardi's restaurant, where they will get free dessert with any 2 dinner entrees by showing their FFW bracelets. Each family will be provided a guide and will have the freedom to "choose their own adventure" during this part of the weekend.
