Facilities Planning, Design and Construction (FPDC) is a seven-person department reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Management.
Michael B. Hayes (firstname.lastname@example.org, x8058) is the Director of the department and has both fiduciaryand technical oversight responsibilities covering major facilities projects and the annual alterations and upgrade process.
Doreen Arruda (email@example.com, x9223) is the Administrative Assistant reporting directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Management. She maintains departmental financial records, produces reports and presentations as needed by departmental staff, and is responsible for the effective and efficient management of the office.
Elizabeth (Liz) Bender (firstname.lastname@example.org, x8068) is the University’s Space Planning / Project Manager. Liz is responsible for the universities space management procedures including maintaining the space database, compiling and evaluating requests for space, meeting with departments to determine needs, analyze requests against standards for utilization, develops multiple solutions to address needs including budgetary and programmatic impacts. Develops detailed program studies for reallocation and renovation as well as capital projects. Designs and specifies interior finishes and selects furniture for renovation projects. Coordinates the work of outside design professionals, conducts the bidding process in accordance with State and University procurement regulations and laws and oversee construction and construction administration. Liz also manages the design and installation of all campus signage.
Christina Bowen (email@example.com, x9146) is the Capital Project Manager. She is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of all phases of assigned capital projects including feasibility, design and construction. Christina interacts with faculty, staff, students and senior administrators as well outside design and construction professionals.
Peter Geldmacher (firstname.lastname@example.org, x8938) is the Construction Manager. He is responsible for project oversight that ensures that construction projects reflect the campus-wide mission and vision, program priorities and human and fiscal constraints. Peter coordinates the work of outside design professionals, conducts the bidding process in accordance with State and University procurement regulations and laws and oversee construction and construction administration.
Crystal Harris (email@example.com, x6428) is the University’s Architect. Crystal coordinates and manages multiple projects with both in-house and outside consultants. She creates plans and specifications for interior alterations projects and stamps in-house design work. She conducts the bidding process in accordance with State and University procurement regulations and laws and oversees construction and construction administration. She is responsible for reviewing and approving all building and tent permits for the Dartmouth Campus. She maintains current knowledge of all applicable regulations and codes regarding state design and construction projects. Crystal also works with other University departments for any of the code related aspects of event planning.
Bruce Gempp (firstname.lastname@example.org, x8780) is the CAD Drafter working directly for Crystal Harris. Bruce maintains our floor plan and drawing databases; providing files to consultants as needed. Bruce operates our CAD system to draw 'as-built' floor plans and event layouts. He also produces the temporary signage used around campus for special events.
