The Ora M. DeJesus Gerontology Center

Administration & Faculty

The Gerontology Center at UMass Dartmouth consists of a Center Director, a Program Director, and Executive Board, and a core group of faculty and Staff. All are employees of the University. In addition, the Center has a Community Advisory Board, which supports and advises the Executive Board.

The Executive Board is the heart of the Center. It consists of nine voting members, including the Director of the Gerontology Center and the Program Director and no more than seven other members consisting of faculty, staff and administrators.

The Community Advisory Board (CAB) advises the Executive Board and links the Gerontology Center with the community at large. In this role, the CAB:

  • Identifies and/or recommends programs designed to enhance the educational and outreach mission of the Gerontology Center.
  • Assists in identifying research opportunities and projects appropriate to the Center.
  • Identifies funding resources and, with approval of the Executive Board, conducts fund raising events.
