Summer Housing 2008

Summer Housing 2008 is quickly approaching and the Department of Housing and Residential Life hopes that you have had a prosperous academic year thus far. As we prepare for Summer Housing, many students may request to reside on campus throughout the summer for various reasons. Applications for summer housing will be available beginning Friday, April 25th in your Resident Director’s office.  The halls will close at 5pm on Wednesday May 21, 2008. If you have a class or other academic commitment that extends beyond the checkout time please consult with your respective RD no later than May 15th to work out a check-out time/date to accommodate your class schedule as you will be able to remain in the hall until your class has ended that evening. The official start date for summer housing is Sunday, May 25, 2008. The cost for staying on campus during the summer housing period is $23 a day. During the summer housing period the Commuter Café will be open Mon-Friday 7:30am-1:30pm.

Students will only be permitted to stay on campus during Summer Housing if they meet one of the following criteria:

1. International students who must obtain written verification of their status from the International Student Center.

2. Students required to remain on campus that are engaged in classes, student teaching, internships, or co-op programs must obtain written verification of enrollment from the academic department/faculty member sponsoring the program.

3. Students employed on UMD campus must obtain written verification from their campus employment supervisor.

4. Student Athletes and Student Leaders must (1) obtain written verification from a coach/advisor confirming their athlete/leader status, and (2) obtain written verification stating trainings/games/events that require their presence on campus.

5. Students with extenuating circumstances are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and not guaranteed approval. These students must make an appointment to meet with their Resident Director to discuss individual circumstances put request in writing, outlining circumstances and submit request with this application

All requested written verifications are to be submitted with this application. Completed applications are due to your Resident Director on Friday May 9th by 5pm. If you have any questions please see your RD or contact the housing office at 508.999.8140 or housing@umassd.edu.
