First Year Students - Room/Roommate/General Information
Room assignment
We make every effort to honor student room assignment preferences as selected on their 2009-2010 Housing & Dining Services Contract. Lack of room type availability may prevent a student from receiving their first room assignment preference.
Roommate Request
A student request for a particular roommate may not be fulfilled due to the requested roommates' lack of reciprocation.
Roommate Information
The UmassD email account of a roommate is provided as a courtesy. We encourage students contact each other prior to moving into the residence halls.

Phone Number
There is phone service in each student room. The telephone service includes an internal voicemail system, but does not include caller ID. The student can obtain their telephone number from their online room assignment (see Room Assignment Example above). Housing does not provide a telephone and recommends that students obtain a simple, inexpensive telephone.
Mailing Address
The student mailing address is listed on your room assignment invite e-mail. An example of the format for the address is:
