Office of Housing & Residential Life

Resident Assistants

Resident Assistants are student leaders hired to help staff our residence halls, in cooperation with the Resident Director (RD). RA's are responsible for community building, program planning and emergency response. Students are encouraged to see their RA's with a variety of questions from "How do I drop a course?" to "Where do I go to choose a room for next year?".

The Office of Housing and Residential Life is gearing up for an exciting spring semester! In preparation for spring semester we will need to plan for RA departures related to graduation, promotion, personal reasons, etc. As a result, the Department of Residence Life has a rolling application process in place that will enable us to recruit staff for immediate openings. This process is separate from the formal spring RA Selection 2008-2009 application process. We encourage all interested students to apply.

Qualifications for Employment:
* Candidates must be enrolled as a full- time undergraduate or graduate student.
* Candidates must possess a 2.4 GPA for hire
* Candidates must be available to attend Spring RA training (January 22-25).

The Process:
* All interested parties can obtain an RA application in the Residential Life office located in Oak Glen Hall, 2nd floor.
* Applicants must schedule and attend an information session with an RD.
* Applicants should complete the application in its entirety and turn in materials to Angela Watson, Assistant Director of Residential Life, 2nd floor Oak Glen Hall. All applications must be typed.
* Applicants will then be afforded an interview with Residential Life staff.
* Notification of hire will occur as interviews are commenced. Applicants will be notified formally by Angela Watson.
* In the event that a position does not become available all applicant materials will remain in an active file and respective parties will be added to the formal RA Selection Process that occurs in the spring. (All candidates still in the active file will have to attend a group process day in the spring semester).

Compensation for the Position:
