Music Chairperson
The College of Visual and Performing Arts invites applications and nominations for the position of CHAIR, DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC. Appointment will begin September 1, 2013, to lead the Bachelor of Arts in Music with strong programs in world music, jazz studies, and music education. Salary is competitive, tenure negotiable.
Minimum Qualifications: earned doctorate in Music with specialization and experience in music education; administrative experience in leadership positions of increasing responsibility: a record of research/performance that qualifies for a position at the rank of Associate or full Professor; a record of effective and innovative teaching and student recruitment.
Preferred qualifications: experience of at least 4 years as department chair, program coordinator or similar leadership position; specific experience in an effective BA or BM in Music program; a clear vision of how to achieve excellence within the customary limits of a BA program; a record of success in attracting grant funding or engaging in analogous entrepreneurial activity; experience with graduate study in Music.
