Full Time Lecturer, Public Policy, UMass Dartmouth

The UMass Dartmouth Department of Public Policy seeks applications for a one-year appointment (renewable forup totwo additional years) in Public Policy at the formal rank of Full-Time Lecturer for a position beginning in September, 2013. The ideal candidate will be academically qualified to teach online graduate courses in Public Policy and Public Administration and will have substantive expertise in one or more of the following areas (listed in order of priority):Public Management, Educational Policy, Environmental Policy, Sustainability Studies.

We seek candidates with outstanding online teaching skills, interest in working with diverse, nontraditional student populations, and the willingness to make a three-year commitment. While the ability to be physically present on our campus is preferred, we will consider a “virtual appointment” for highly qualified candidates.

The successful applicant will teacheight (8) courses per year (distributed as needed over twelve months but not to exceed four courses per term) and will join a growing interdisciplinary graduate department that is home to a face to face and online Master of Public Policy program (MPP), online graduate certificates in Educational Policy and Environmental Policy, and whose core courses in Research Methods, Statistics, and Policy Analysis serve doctoral students in the Department of Educational Leadership.To learn more about the Department's programs and course offerings, please visit:http://www.umassd.edu/seppce/departments/publicpolicy/

Applicants must possess a terminal degree in their field of study. An earned Ph.D. in Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science or other relevant field of study (ABDs with a scheduled dissertation defense will be considered) is preferred. Experience in teaching onlinecoursesis required,including experience usingBlackboard Learn 9.1as the delivery system for teaching online courses. Experience in developing online courses is preferred.
