Upward Bound Summer Positions
University of Massachusetts Dartmouth
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth seeks applicants for summer employment during a six week summer program. All positions require demonstrated sensitivity to needs of low income and disadvantaged youth and the ability to relate well to students of diverse ethnic backgrounds.
Summer Science Teacher: to provide high school level instruction for students in Chemistry, Biology, and/or Anatomy Physiology for students of diverse, nontraditional backgrounds four mornings per week and occasional afternoons. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in respective discipline, two years of successful teaching experience, preferably with high school students. Preferred: Mass. Teacher Certification. $400 weekly.
Residential Supervisor: Administers residential operations in a dormitory of 75 students and supervises a staff of 8 tutor mentors. Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree preferred with 2 years college campus residential living experience as a staff, and one year successful experience working with disadvantaged secondary school students. Preferred: experience as a staff member of an Upward Bound summer program. This is a live in position. $472.50 weekly.
Tutor Mentor: Provide assistance to the Residential Supervisor with student programing, individual tutoring, classroom aid, and supervise a residential suite of 8-10 students. Minimum requirements: College student, sophomore or higher in good academic standing. This is a live in position. $380 weekly.
