The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (UMass Dartmouth) invites nominations of and applications from individuals interested in assuming an exciting leadership opportunity as Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs.
The Provost is the chief academic officer of the University charged with providing leadership and strategic direction for the instructional and research programs of the University. The position has oversight responsibilities for all academic degree programs, research, student affairs, enrollment management and the library. The Provost reports directly to the Chancellor and works closely with the University’s senior leadership in a strong team approach.
With more than 9,300 students in more than 40 undergraduate, 36 graduate and 11 doctoral programs, the diverse student body pursues academic excellence within a global context for experiential learning, rigorous inquiry, and social and cultural development. The campus currently has several strong and multi-disciplinary doctoral and research programs, and aspires to Carnegie Foundation Doctoral Research University status. The university is located in the heart of the scenic South Coast region of Massachusetts, 56 miles south of Boston, 27 miles east of Providence, RI, and 30 miles west of Cape Cod.
The ideal candidate should possess a substantial record of progressively responsible experience in higher education administration or other relevant experience. The candidate should also have a combination of education, training and experience, including extensive expertise in academic program development, student recruitment and retention, fundraising, government relations, accreditation processes, and financial management. A strong background in academic leadership, scholarship and teaching at a university with a significant research enterprise is a preferred qualification for the Provost.
