University of Massachusetts Dartmouth invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the Charlton College of Business (www.umassd.edu/charlton). This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned and entrepreneurial visionary to lead the highly ranked Charlton College of Business, the only AACSB-accredited public business school in the region, to broaden its regional, national and global impact.
The College is housed in a new state-of-the-art academic building and enrolls 1541 undergraduates and 219 graduate students. The new dean will provide leadership and strategic planning for the College, lead efforts to maintain accreditation, oversee a significant expansion of graduate programs, leverage university partnerships with Vietnam, India, and Portugal to grow their international presence, heighten the College’s visibility, and create new opportunities for growth and community engagement. The new Dean also will be closely involved with the Charlton Campaign to complete funding for the new Learning Pavilion, which will be an addition to the existing building.
Ranked by U.S. News and World Report as the best public institution of its kind in New England, the 700-acre UMass Dartmouth campus is ideally situated along a pristine coastline just an hour from Boston, and 30 minutes from Providence, Newport, and Cape Cod. World-class cultural amenities and a vibrant lifestyle attract highly qualified faculty and staff to the area; with an enrollment of over 9000 students. The university is one of five institutions comprising the University of Massachusetts system.
The Charlton College of Business offers seven undergraduate majors, an MBA, an MBA/JD joint degree, eight undergraduate minors and three graduate certificate programs. An International Business Minor program gives UMass students unique travel opportunities to study global business practices; and high-demand co-operative education and internship programs link students with major corporate partners in the commerce-intense region. The College fills an integral role in regional economic development through innovative collaborative programs, including the Center for Marketing Research, the Business Innovation Research Center, the University’s Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Center, and other related activities.
The new Dean will have an earned doctorate in a business-related field and the accomplishments to earn tenured appointment at the rank of Professor; administrative experience in a university setting, demonstrated leadership with AACSB accreditation, a successful record of achievement in fundraising and developing/sustaining innovative external partnerships with public/private entities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additionally the ideal applicant will have the following attributes:

· A strong appreciation of the importance of research and scholarship in business
education;
· A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, especially with
faculty, student, and staff recruiting and retention;
· A track record of effective planning, administration, personnel, and fiscal management
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
· A demonstrated ability to work with unionized faculty and state and regional business leaders.
