Undergraduate Academic Advisor for Online Programs

Academic Advising Center

The Undergraduate Academic Advisor for Online Programs advises students enrolled in the University Of Massachusetts Dartmouth online degree programs. The Undergraduate Academic Advisor also adheres to campus-wide advising standards, policies, procedures and practices for Academic Advising at UMass Dartmouth. S/he assists with the ongoing assessment and improvement of academic advising. Using appropriate technology, the advisor provides distance students with information and advice concerning general education/university studies and major program requirements. Additionally, the academic advisor advises students on the development of their educational plan makes appropriate referrals to assist students in the selection of their major and evaluation of their educational progress. S/he follows protocols for students placed on academic warning and probation. S/he may serve on planning committees for advising and registration.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree; EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated experience advising undergraduate students; experience with web-based advising tools; demonstrated experience in the use of a Learning Management System.

OTHER: Available for evening/weekend hours as needed. Some travel required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree; EXPERIENCE: Significant experience advising undergraduate students.
