Abstract:

Mr. Ghanashyam has been a career diplomat and has represented the Indian viewpoint to the world for about two and a half decades with the (Indian) Foreign service department. He is currently the Press Consul (Minister) at the Indian consulate in New York city. He has gathered a broad variety of experience as a diplomat -- from sharing of natural resources between India and its neighboring countries to negotiating with hijackers of an Indian plane to Afghanistan, from organizing partnerships between European Union and India to being a standby Arabic interpreter for the Prime Minister of India.

He has served in Syria,Pakistan, as well as in the western hemisphere. This talk will focus on how his own world view has developed and what he thinks of the place of India in this world from the frontline of the Indian diplomatic core.

"Bio:

Received a M. Sc. (Solid State Physics) Central College, JnanaGangotri(University of Bangalore) Bangalore,Karnataka. PGDBM (IIM, Ahmedabad), Specialization, Finance & Business Policy, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Career Diplomat, in the Indian Foreign Service for (22 years) worked in five countries, Syria, Nepal, Belgium,Pakistan and United States and traveled on work in 42 countries.

Assignments/Projects: Transportation Model for optimizing POL movement from Persian Gulf to Indian Refineries and within India.Managed movement of oil tankers in war torn Iran Iraq. Reorganization of the working of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Managed sharing of natural resources (water) between India Nepal and India Bhutan.Conceptualizing, Planning and Organizing an India EU Partenariate in Brussels with 500 European companies in Brussels and 1000 EU companies in New Delhi
