Science and Art of Ayurveda: The Basis of Life and Living

The Center for Indic Studies at UMass Dartmouth is pleased to announce an academic conference on the ancient Hindu concept of Ayurveda. The conference will be held on our campus in the beautiful, historic, seaside town of North Dartmouth, MA, especially alluring around the summer solstice. An optional tour of the area, including the historic New Bedford waterfront, is being planned during the conference.

CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS

We invite you to submit a brief description or abstract, along with a brief bio, by May 15, 2005. You may also indicate the length of time desired for your presentation. Standard papers are 40 minutes (plus 15 minutes for questions), but shorter presentations are welcome. We also invite posters (2x3) for display in the meeting hall. Relevant films, videos, music, and art will also be considered by the program committee.

We would like the conference to reflect many perspectives on Ayurveda, including but not limited to historical, cultural, philosophical, clinical, artistic, and scientific. An attendance fee of $40 (waived for presenters or financial hardship) covers the entire conference, including refreshments.
