Faculty & Staff — Staying Connected

Retirement Association

Many retirees of UMass Dartmouth and its predecessor institutions want to maintain a connection to the university they served faithfully with distinction. It has taken more than three decades to build that connecting link, but it is now in place with the UMass Dartmouth Retirement Association, a tangible bridge between retirees and the university.

Established in February 1998, the Association is the result of a number of initiatives. Reaching out to retirees began with the monthly Retirees' Luncheons, spearheaded by Business Dean Emeritus Richard Ward; John Carroll, professor of political science; and Donald Ramsbottom, director of the UMass Dartmouth Foundation. They have now been joined by a continually expanding group of retirees who assist with operations and development.

The monthly luncheons enable us to keep in touch with colleagues, as well as hear from faculty members about their research undertakings and special interests. We also receive reports on various aspects of university activity, and enjoy special events, such as a walking tour of Boston's Big Dig and invitations to events sponsored by Chancellor Jean F. MacCormack.

For those retirees who are interested in more lifelong learning opportunities.  UMass Dartmouth and Campus Continuum are conducting a survey to determine the feasibility of a 55+ Active Adult Community to be located at UMass Dartmouth.  For more information or to participate in the survey, please click on "Campus Continuum"
