International Students at UMD

Declaration and Certification of Finances

The United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) requires the University to verify the financial resources of every international student before issuing the I-20 form (U.S. Immigration Certification of Eligibility). We must have official confirmation that you have sufficient financial resources for your study at UMass Dartmouth. We can issue the I-20 form only after the candidate has been accepted, paid the necessary enrollment deposit, and sent the document signifying sufficient financial resources. It is preferable to include that document as part of your application for admission. You can print a copy of the Declaration and Certification of Finances form for you to return with your application. You should be aware that eligibility for financial assistance at UMass Dartmouth requires that a student be a citizen or a permanent resident of the United States.
