Testing

The SAT is required of freshman applicants. The SAT is administered several times a year in cities around the world. Registration is made by contacting the College Board SAT Program, Box 6200, Princeton, NJ 08540-6200; telephone (609) 771-7600 or at www.collegeboard.org. The UMass Dartmouth College Board Code Number is 3786. Your test results will be reported directly to the University. The SAT should be taken no later than March for admission in September, and no later than October for admission in January. Applicants who have completed secondary school more than three years ago, or those who have completed 30 or more transferable university credits, are not required to submit SAT results.

The GRE, GMAT, and Miller Analogies Tests (MAT) are required for graduate study.  Testing requirements differ by program, so please refer to the appropriate program information.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

If English is not your first language, you must demonstrate English proficiency by submitting the results of the TOEFL. For information about registration, dates, and locations, contact TOEFL, Box 6151, Princeton, NJ 08541-6151; telephone (609) 771-7600 or at www.toefl.org. Only the official results will be accepted, using our Code number 3786. Photocopies or fax copies are not acceptable. The TOEFL requirement is waived only for students who have attended schools where the primary language of instruction is English, or for those who have successfully completed secondary school or college/university in the United States. You will need to send us documentation if that is the case. UMass Dartmouth does not offer an intensive program in English as a second language for conditional admission. A number of institutions in our region do offer such programs. It is recommended that students who lack the necessary proficiency in English enroll in an intensive English program, complete it successfully, then apply for admission to UMass Dartmouth.
