Brief Description of Project:
Purchased Software Licenses based on the Computer User's Committee's Instructional Computing Initiative's -- Hardware/Software Standards and Licensing Workgroup document entitled Proposed Software Standards, June 2001 which was developed and approved by the Computer Users Committee of the Faculty Senate.

This software will be made available for faculty, staff, and student use both on the main and remote campuses. All CITS licensed software is available via the Computing Support Center located in Group I Room 222.

Impact on Campus:
Much of the software standards recommended by faculty based committee will now be a reality. Faculty, staff and students in all of the five colleges now have access to high-end software tools centrally managed and maintained by CITS.

• Software will be installed on UMD Tagged computers. As a result of retirement in Property Control, equipment is tagged on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
• The cost for Maintenance for all software purchased from IT Bond funding will have to be absorbed beginning fiscal year 2004.

• CITS has developed a web accessible database to track deployment of software by department and room location when appropriate.
• At Semester break, CITS will report on the balances remaining and make recommendations.
