Wireless Networking

Brief Description of Project:
Installation of wireless networking in campus inner ring.

Impact on Campus:
This will enable mobile users to access wireless networking (802.11b and future standards) both indoors and outdoors within the inner ring. This specifically includes most outdoor green spaces as well as the amphitheater, indoor common areas and lecture halls/multimedia classrooms. This will be enhanced with access to a VPN for security/encryption and when available authentication via the new campus directory services.

Project Coordinator:
Andrew Darling (adarling@umassd.edu)

Outstanding Issues:

  • Outstanding issues include configuration of wireless devices to be lent from Library.
