Collection of Money

Sr. Madeleine Tacy of the Religious Resource Center is organizing a money collection for the Hurricane Victims. The money will go through Catholic Charities USA; the money is not used to proselytize, only to help victims. Please contact her at 508.999.8872 or mtacy@umassd.edu if you would like to donate.

Restoring some joy through toys

The UMass Dartmouth SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) team is collecting children's books, playing cards and board games to send to the victims of hurricane Katrina. This project is designed to bring a little happiness to children. Reading and playing will also help children begin the process of healing, to continue their education, and to provide a sense of hope for the future. The books, cards, and games can be dropped off at the UMass Dartmouth Charlton College of Business or at other locations on campus. Please no cash donations. Emergency applications process

The Admissions Office and the division of Professional and Continuing Education are joining with the other UMass campuses, state colleges and community colleges to provide emergency application procedures for students who have been displaced by the hurricane. the university will do the best the best that we can to provide courses that these students need to stay on track, and then assist students as they transfer back into their home institutions.

MASSPIRG offers internship to campaign for aid

MASSPIRG urges you to do an internship (or work study) this semester leading a campaign to help aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina. You will receive course credit (or wages) and gain leadership skills while creating, planning and leading a campaign to provide support for Hurricane Katrina victims. Please stop by the 'Work n Serve Job Fair' on Wednesday, Sept. 7th, for an interview anytime between 11am and 3pm. We will also have intern (and work study) interviews on Thursday Sept 8th at 11, 1 and 3 in the Auditorium Building Room 205--follow the MASSPIRG signs.

Step Up to the Plate for the Animals

UMass Dartmouth student Elizabeth Lowe has set up a fund for the animals affected by Hurricane Katrina, called Step Up to the Plate for the Animals. 100% of the funds go to the ASPCA Disaster Relief Fund.

You can mail a donation to Elizabeth. Make the check out to the ASPCA Disaster Relief Fund, and write "Step Up to the Plate for the Animals" on the memo line so the ASPCA can keep up with the charity. Mail the checks to:

CVPA Art Sale

The College of Visual and Performing Arts is organizing an art sale, to be held at the Star Store building in New Bedford on the next AHA! Night, October 13th. 100% of the sale price of all artworks will be given to the American Red Cross, with the express purpose of aiding victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Students and faculty are donating art to this sale. We will hang two-dimensional work, and have tables and pedestals available throughout most of the first floor for three-dimensional work.

If you make art, please consider donating a piece to the sale, or coming out to Star Store, on Purchase Street in New Bedford on AHA Night!
