Anne Walsh Folino, Esq., Director
Administrative duties
Anne designs, directs, and implements the programs and policies of the Graduate Academic Resources and Legal Writing Center at the law school.
Professional background
Anne is a licensed attorney admitted to practice in Massachusetts and in the U.S. Supreme Court. She is a graduate of Rosemont College (A.B., Spanish), Georgetown University (M.A.T., Bilingual Education/ESL), and UMass Law (formerly Southern New England School of Law). Anne began her law practice in the appellate division as a Special Assistant District Attorney in Bristol and Barnstable Counties. Later, she directed the HR department as AA/EEO director at Massachusetts Maritime Academy where her responsibilities included conducting internal discrimination investigations, ensuring campus compliance with anti-discrimination laws, and directing the ADA accommodation process for students with disabilities. A former teacher in the New Bedford school system, Anne has managed the Academic Resources department for eight years and has taught Legal Skills for five years. Anne is an active alumna of the law school and a founding board member of the Alumni Association.
Seth-Thomas Aitken, Esq., Staff Associate
Administrative duties
Seth works in Academic Resources as a staff associate under the direction of Anne Folino. His responsibilities include teaching a section of the foundation "One-L" class, managing the resources of the Legal Writing Center, and academic counseling of students in difficulty.
Professional background
Seth came to UMass Law after serving for two years as an assistant district attorney in Bristol County. Seth earned his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University (B.S. Industrial Design), and a J.D. from Roger Williams School of Law. He served for eight years as an Army officer in the Corps of Engineers. Seth has prior higher education experience working with student groups at Brown University in the Office of Alumni Relations and the Swearer Center for Public Service.
