Applicants educated outside the United States and Canada must establish that their education is equivalent to that of a bachelor’s degree from an UMass Law students working in classaccredited institution within the United States. The law school requires that all foreign transcripts be submitted for evaluation through the LSAC Credential Assembly Service. A Foreign Credential Evaluation will be completed by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), which will be incorporated into your CAS report and is included in the CAS subscription fee.

If English is not the first or primary language of an applicant or if the undergraduate degree was not received from an English-speaking institution, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) must be taken. You must contact the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and request that your TOEFL score be sent to LSAC. LSAC’s institutional code for the Credential Assembly Service is 0058. Your score will be included in your CAS law school report.

UMass Law is authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant students. Students in this category must comply with certain regulations in order to maintain their status. Details regarding all of the above requirements can be obtained from the Admissions Office. Because of the additional time needed to complete various requirements, foreign applicants are urged to contact the Admissions Office as early as possible.
