Law Academic Scholarships |
Academic scholarships are awarded at admission by the Admissions Committee based on LSAT scores, along with other admissions criteria. Awards are distributed as follows:

In order to retain an academic scholarship, students must:
- maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.7 (B-)*
- maintain satisfactory academic progress
- take a normal course load
- comply with rules and regulations detailed in the UMass Law Student Handbook
*In our most recently completed academic year, 64.3% of Academic Scholarship recipients maintained the required 2.7 cumulative GPA

Public Interest Law Fellowships |
The Public Interest Law Fellowship Overview Committee awards 25 fellowships annually. Applications for law fellowships are offered to all admitted students. Students who are awarded fellowships receive a 50% reduction of their tuition and fees.
Selected students must remain in academic good standing* (1 semester grace period allowed) to keep their fellowship and must work as an attorney in a public service job for 4 years after bar passage.

Law GPA Scholarships |
GPA scholarships are awarded each semester to all students with a 3.0+ cumulative GPA.
- 3.0 = 10% of tuition & law school fees
- 3.3 = additional 15% (total 25%) of tuition & law school fees
- 4.0 = additional 10% (total 35%) of tuition & law school fees
Hoff Law Scholarships |
Eligible students are personally invited to apply for annual Hoff Law Scholarships. The award is $6,000, and the number of scholarships offered vary per award year.
Scholarship Terms
- US citizens or eligible non-citizens who are permanent residents of Massachusetts
- full-time students who are alumni/ae of a UMass undergraduate program
- recipients must have financial need of at least $6,000 by federal aid guidelines
- preference given to Public Interest Law Fellows and students with higher GPAs
Continuation of Hoff Law Scholarships is conditional upon satisfactory performance and continual financial eligibility. The maximum length of the award is six semesters.
