The UMass Law Alumni Association has created an Alumni Awards program in order to recognize public service, academic excellence and other distinguished achievements of our alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of the School of Law.
Three awards are presented annually; the following are the categories which may be awarded:
Alumni Achievement Award
This award will be presented annually to a Southern New England School of Law or University of Massachusetts School of Law – Dartmouth alumnus/a who has shown significant accomplishment in their chosen profession and embodies outstanding leadership and a commitment to community service the University of Massachusetts School of Law – Dartmouth hopes to instill in their graduates.
This award will be presented to an alumnus/a, student, faculty member, administrator or friend of the School of Law who has helped to serve as a good will ambassador through a combination of actions and efforts that have benefitted and demonstrated dedication and fellowship towards the School of Law and the overall community.
Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award
This award is presented to an alumnus/a, faculty member, administrator or friend of the School of Law who has attained outstanding success and distinction in their chosen business, profession or life’s work and whose accomplishments reflect admirably on or bring honor to the recipient, to the School of Law and to the legal profession.
Faculty Achievement Award
This award will be presented to a School of Law faculty member in recognition of their accomplishment in their profession as well as extraordinary commitment and scholarship which brings honor to the University of Massachusetts School of Law – Dartmouth.
Student Achievement Award
This award will be presented to a graduating Law School student who has shown extraordinary scholastic achievement, involvement with extracurricular activities and an overall demonstrated commitment toward the legal profession and the community. This award will be presented annually each May during the commencement brunch.
Current members of the UMass Law Alumni Association Board of Directors, their relatives, employers or employees are not eligible to receive these awards.
