Administrative duties

As Senior Philanthropic Officer, Rich Jacobson is a member of the fundraising team responsible for a wide range of large gift fundraising activities throughout the United States. Rich has an active role with the Vice Chancellor in developing policies and strategies regarding donor cultivation and confidentiality, as well as fund creation and management. Rich identifies and promotes major gift prospect relationships and implements long range plans for donor development.

Rich also represents the Vice Chancellor as assigned and collaborates with campus leaders, the Chancellor’s Office, and other Institutional Advancement staff, including those in the Foundation and Alumni Office, to secure gifts for UMass Dartmouth.

Rich also may represent the campus at system-wide strategy meeting sessions and activities.

Professional background

Before coming to UMass Law, Rich held the positions of Senior Director of Reunion Giving and Senior Gift Officer, George Eastman Ciricle at the University of Rochester. He has also served as Director of Reunion Giving, Associate Director of Class Giving, and Associate Director of Telemarketing at MIT. Aong with extensive experience with the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG), Rich has also worked on outreach campaigns for Georgetown University and St. John's University.
