"I love UMass Law because of its sense of community. We all spend so much time together and have common goals, so it feels like we're an extended family."

How does law school fit into your life's plan?

I hope to make a difference in people's lives and to have a positive impact on society. I believe a career as a lawyer will enable me to do this, as well as to be a positive role model in the community and within my family.

What's your favorite spot on campus and why?

I may be the only person to choose this place, but my favorite spot on campus is the lower level of the Law Library. It's a quiet place to study and still be able to look out the window and remember there is life outside the library, even if I'm not participating in it. There's also space there for group study, which has been a very important part of my law school experience. The opportunity to teach, learn, and sometimes just decompress with my fellow students has been a saving grace during my time at UMass Law.

What makes UMass Law special?

I love UMass Law because of its sense of community. We all spend so much time together and have common goals, so it feels like we're an extended family. The staff all know me by my first name, and they, along with my fellow students, provide great support and guidance. It also gives me the opportunity to provide support to my fellow students, as well as be a friendly face to the staff.

Who's your favorite professor and why?

It's a tough choice, but I think Professor Dunlap is my favorite professor. She is so enthusiastic about teaching that she makes every topic interesting. She also cares about the students and their well-being. She takes the time to counsel students not only on the topics she teaches, but on other important issues that affect the student population.

What advice do you have for incoming law students?

Be prepared to study hard—and always be nice to the faculty and your fellow students. You get what you give!
