Beth-Anne received her Bachelor's Degree in Jounalism, English, and Women's Studies from Lehigh University in 1994 and her Master's Degree in Public Health (MPH) from Boston University in 1996.
Beth-Anne's professional areas of interest include: social justice and its relationship to health care access, delivery, quality and outcomes; mental health promotion and suicide prevention; HIV/AIDS; and women's health.
Following her graduation form Boston University, Beth-Anne worked at the Boston Visiting Nurse Association and Boston HealthNet for several years before joining the UMass Dartmouth community in 2004 as the Health Educator.
Beth-Anne has been strongly influenced by her volunteer work at various non-profit organizations, including: Health House ( a now defunct women's health resource center). Planned Parenthood, Boston G.L.A.S.S. (Gay and Lesbian Adolescent Social Services), F.I.N.E.X. House (a shelter for battered women and their children), and Fenway Community Health.
Beth-Anne is a certified QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) and OWL (Our Whole Lives) instructor. QPR is a suicide prevention program; OWL is a comprehensive sexuality education program. She is an active member of the American College Health Association and the New England Health Educators Network.
In her free time, Beth-Anne enjoys spending time with her family and friends, raising her feminist sons, reading, writing, and baking.
