UMD Mobile Usage Survey Results
Survey conducted December 1- 15, 2011
Total 513 respondents from across the campus community
Why did we conduct this survey?
- To gain feedback on UMassD mobile
- Get a sense of mobile technologies in use on campus
- Use this data to help direct the mobile initiative next steps
Summary of findings:
- 71.9% of the UMD community owns a Smart phone (iPhone,Blackberry,Android,Windows)
- Of the 71.9% smartphone users, 48.9% are undergraduates followed by staff at 19.9%
- Email and Homepage are the most accessed web apps via UmassD mobile
- Laptop are still the preferred mobile device at 80% with smartphone close behind at 71%
- Most requested campus mobile apps:
- interactive campus map
- dart van location tracking service
- access to COIN
- communication alerts
- access to grades
