UMD Astral Infinity Arkestra to present concert December 10

The Astral Infinity Arkestra at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth will present a free concert entitled, "Blues of An Other Color," on Monday, December 10, at 7:30 p.m. The performance will take place in the College of Visual and Performing Arts auditorium (room 153) with parking available in lot 8/9.

UMD Astral Infinity Arkestra to present concert December 10 

The Astral Infinity Arkestra at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth will present a free concert entitled, Blues of An Other Color, on Monday, December 10, at 7:30 p.m. The performance will take place in the College of Visual and Performing Arts auditorium (room 153) with parking available in lot 8/9. 

The program features original and traditional music in the African American jazz tradition with the repertoire derived from a variety of cultures from eastern Europe to Cape Verde. Compositions include Horace Silver’s Cape Verdean Blues, Fred Wei-Han Ho’s Xiu he bao and a recasting of Bela Bartok’s Dedication, in original arrangements by Arkestra director Harold Anderson and co-leader royal hartigan. 

Guest soloist will be alto saxophonist David Bond, known for his work with jazz legends Dewey Redman, Sonny Fortune, and Marion Brown.
